Description of service

De-Matts are done when a dog is matted in most areas. I remove the coat because it is a lot kinder than trying the get the knots out. I start by taking as much of the coat off as possible before tackling the knotted areas in this case it is all over. Very gently I remove the coat with a 10 blade without nicking the skin. It is a lengthy procedure but has to be done. If the knots are left, they can tighten on the skin and become painful. Then I give the dog a bath with medicated shampoo.

Common Questions

Yes, it can cost considerably more due to the delicate nature of the task. The groomer has to be very careful not to cut the skin however in some cases the groomer wets the coat first so as to carefully remove the hair without cutting or grazing the skin.  this can take longer as well
